Project Bluebell - Yates Landscaping Revives an Overlooked Garden with Structure, Style & Seasonal Balance

Before

This garden was once a patchwork of gravel, decking, and overgrowth, lacking flow, clarity, and purpose. At Scott Brothers UK, we approached this project with a clear goal: to reimagine the space with structure, softness, and lasting usability. As specialists in Yates landscaping, we knew this garden had potential, it just needed the right touch.

We began by removing the cluttered slate chippings and worn decking, replacing them with a clean grey sandstone patio. This instantly created a central zone for outdoor dining and relaxation, framed by a raised border of evergreen shrubs and ornamental accents.

To introduce movement and balance, we added a lush green lawn with light grey stepping stones leading to a timber platform, perfect for a secondary seating area or garden feature. The platform’s sandy-toned finish contrasts beautifully with the surrounding greenery, adding warmth and texture.

The existing hedge was retained and trimmed to provide privacy and enclosure, while new steps were installed to create a safer, more elegant transition from the upper deck to the garden level.

We also planted a Japanese maple and low-maintenance shrubs to bring seasonal interest and colour variation throughout the year. The result is a garden that feels open, organized, and ready for everyday living.

This transformation reflects our approach to Yates landscaping: thoughtful design, quality materials, and a clear understanding of how outdoor spaces should function. Whether it’s a full redesign or a subtle refresh, Scott Brothers UK delivers gardens that feel personal, polished, and built to last.
