Project: St John - Composite Front Doors Yate
When we were approached by a local church in Yate to restore their original front door, we saw it as more than just a job, it was a chance to honour heritage through craftsmanship. At Scott Brothers UK, we’re passionate about restoration and reclamation, especially when it involves preserving the character of listed buildings.
Unfortunately, the existing timber door was far too rotten and worn to be saved. After a thorough assessment, it became clear that a full replacement was the only viable option. Because the building is listed, we needed to create a faithful replica that respected its architectural integrity while offering modern durability.
We sourced premium Canadian White Oak to craft the new door, ensuring strength, longevity, and a beautiful grain that complements the church’s façade. Our team worked meticulously to replicate the original design, incorporating traditional joinery techniques and period-appropriate detailing. We were also able to salvage and restore some of the original door furniture, which received a deep clean and polish before being reinstalled, adding a touch of authenticity to this bespoke project.
While this particular door was made from solid oak, the project reflects our broader expertise in composite front doors Yate, where we combine heritage aesthetics with modern materials for long-lasting performance. Whether it’s a church, cottage, or contemporary home, we tailor each solution to the building’s character and the client’s needs.
If you're considering composite front doors Yate, we’d love to help you find the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
